For Immediate Release

(Madison, WI) — Registration is now open for Urbana 06, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s twenty-first student missions convention which will be held December 27-31, 2006, in the Edward Jones Dome at the America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Jim Tebbe, InterVarsity’s Vice President for Missions and the Director of Urbana, says he believes Urbana 06, in its new location, will generate a new level of interest and excitement about missions and God’s global plan.

Urbana 06 will inform its North American audience about current realities in global missions. Special seminar tracks that focus on cutting-edge issues in missions will include Mission Through the Lens of AIDS and Slum Communities in the Developing World. Another seminar track, Open for Business, will gather together students, faculty and business professionals to challenge and equip them to practice business in ways that extend God’s Kingdom.

Urbana 06 will offer a window on God’s work in the world by bringing speakers from around the world who are engaged in a variety of cross-cultural missions. The plenary speakers include:

  • Ray Bakke, Founder, International Urban Associates, Seattle, WA
  • Lisa Espineli Chinn, Director, International Student Ministries, InterVarsity/USA, Madison, WI
  • Saul Cruz, Founder and Director, Armonia Ministries, Mexico City, Mexico
