The Nation's Top Campuses

InterVarsity shares the gospel with students on eight of the ‘Top 10 Universities’ ranked recently by U.S. News and World Report.  In the last month, staff and students on these campuses have been busy welcoming new students into their witnessing communities and inviting them to New Student Outreach events.

Harvard

At Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, staff member Tina Teng and student leaders planned an event titled Launch.  Co-hosted by the multi-ethnic, Asian American, and African American InterVarsity campus chapters, Launch featured student stories and testimonies from the summer and past campus involvement, skits about what to expect at Harvard, and an invitation for new students to pursue community, freedom, and a relationship with God.

Penn

At the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, staff member Jaime Hawthorne works with fraternity and sorority students.  Jaime and the student leaders distributed welcome back baskets to Greek students on campus and hosted a welcome back barbeque.  They also hosted a question and answer session for new freshmen and are offering a Bible study for new Christian students on campus.

Stanford

At Stanford University in California, staff Sarah Bury works with undergraduate students who put together Café Night, an evening filled with student performances of music, drama, or poetry.  Students at Stanford were also invited to InterVarsity Recess to develop friendships, play games, and enjoy food and fellowship together.  Freshmen are encouraged to attend the chapter’s fall conference, held October 29-31 in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

All across the nation, at all kinds of colleges and universities, InterVarsity staff members are inviting and welcoming new students into witnessing communities and encouraging them to begin and deepen their relationships with God.
